Put your phone away please

Back in 2017, I wrote a small blog and electrically drew a small comic about "smart devices".  You may read it here: https://simplycandee.blogspot.com/2017/09/the-walking-dead-is-reality.html

I blogged about my phone on this blog more than once.  I am revisiting this topic again because of recent experiences at the women's changeroom.

This women's changeroom is a shared space, located at the community I reside in and subject to rules and regulations.

I can tell you now that at least one woman break the rules and regulations every day.  These rule(s) breakers, if caught rule breaking by this blogger, are subject to immediate action of hearing the blogger speak out loud.

The rule that they break is using their smartphone in the changeroom.  Usually, when they use their smartphone in the changeroom, I am either sitting or standing directly across from them.  They do not put their phone on their ear or speak into the phone; they stare intently at the screen of the phone; I have no clue what they are looking at BUT all I see from the opposite side is... them pointing their camera at me.

Before I speak out loud, I wait to see how long it takes that person to leave their screen and look up.  Sometimes, this doesn't happen until this blogger go "excuse me". After I get their attention, I tell them I do not feel comfortable in the women's changeroom when someone is pointing their camera at me; I ask them to refrain from using their smartphone in the changeroom in the future; and remind them of the rule they are breaking.  I also remind them that there are other places to use their devices, like the hallways outside of the changeroom.  So far, every violators I spoke to, with the exception of one, appeared to be accepting of my comments.

One violator did not want to either hear me or talk to me and told me to talk to the staffs instead so I did.  I told the male staff at the counter that I regularly see women using their smartphone equipped with camera on a daily basis and I ask them to use their smartphone outside of the changeroom because, to me, as soon as I see a smartphone, I see a camera.

Yesterday was the first time I saw a violator using her smartphone while I was relaxing at the hot tub in the changeroom.  The hot tub is located directly across from the shower area.  This time, I added the following to my comments: "you could electrocute me with your smartphone by accident.  Don't you see, you are holding a electrical hazard in your hands while your body is submerged in a pool of water which we are both In?".

I swear, people are stupid. Can some people not function without a smartphone? I thought it is common sense or knowledge to not use electronics near bathrooms, showers, hot tubs and etc.
