Long time no post. How is your 2015 so far? Mine is going swell.
I recently became a sister in law, went on a vacation and..now.. I am back at work. It was a pretty busy month. I apologize for the lack of posting.
In any event, I have a feeling that 2015 is going to be an amazing year. Why? Because my new year's resolution is to have an amazing year. If you put your mind to it anything is possible.
Friday and Saturday are my favorite days of the week (because you get to wear jeans on Friday). I will attempt to post something I find leisurely every Friday .
One of my hobbies is going to the gym. I have been a member of Goodlife since 2012. I prefer this gym over other gyms for a number of reasons:
- it is located almost everywhere
Very convenient if you have an all access membership
- it has a wide variety of group classes
I am one of those people who is not disciplined enough to work out by myself so I have to attend group classes.
- the people/community at the gym
The gyms that I frequent have some very dedicated members. It is nice to share a space with like-minded people. It is very encouraging to see people improving their physical health and amazing to see what some people triple my age can do. I hope I am as healthy as they are when I reach their age.
The group instructors are all very positive, energetic and encouraging. Often times I work out harder because of things they say to the group or being called out. Lastly, but most importantly, they love being there.
- personal growth + self-discovery
After my first year at Goodlife, it gave me the courage to participate in my first obstacle course. I am now addicted to events like spartan race, tough mudder, etc. I plan to attend at least one event every year (more on this some other time).
- showers and saunas
Saunas.. Enough said...
I joined Goodlife when I was trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. I committed to it and am now addicted to going to the gym. I can't help but smile when I enter, my body can't help but get excited when it hears workout music and my mind can't help but feel peaceful and relaxed after a good but hard workout. To me, going to Zumba or BodyJam is like going to a dance party.
It is unfortunate that the membership at Goodlife is pricier than some other gyms but with all the perks that it offers, I believe I am getting my money's worth. Health and Joy are priceless.
With that said though, recently, I visited my partner's gym, Planet Fitness. I think it is a great gym (great price too) for people who does not need group classes and just want to use equipments. I tried out a lot of the machines there and some of them were unique. Don't quote me on this though because I don't regularly work out with machines. It also has some pretty quirky perks like the spa, be my guest, random food day (OK, I don't know how Planet Fitness term these perks but you get the gist of it) #judgementfree#
Anyways a lot of you are probably thinking that I am promoting gyms. I am not. I am, however, promoting the importance of exercising! Did you know that your body generate happy stuff when you are exercising? Or that when you exercise you actually gain more energy? Or that you can indulge in more food and still stay fit (I love eating).
My point is the benefits of exercising are many so find something that works for you and commit to it.
