I noticed I have not posted in September.
This month, I went on vacation by myself. The trip was planned a few months ago. It is very easy to plan when you are traveling alone. Before, I departed, my mother kept asking if I wanted her as a companion. I replied with a solid no each time. Yes, she asked more than once.
I spend half my time on train to get to the destination and the other half of the time at the location. My trip was one week long.
The location I went to was, as their licence plate like to say, "Beautiful British Columbia". I spend some time in Vancouver, Whistler and Pemberton.
The landscape there is very different from Ontario. If you ever plan a trip there, I would recommend riding a bus to Whistler in the day time and have your return trip to Vancouver in the evening or vice versa. This way, you get to enjoy the view of British Columbia between those two points during the day as well as in the evening. The view is completely different. The ride is a little over two hours each way.
I made most of it while I was there, I stayed at a pod for the first time ever, I "hitched hike", I earned my first Spartan Super Mountain series medal, I went mountain biking, I hid beer in a coffee mug like an old man and drank it in broad daylight, I relaxed at the Scandinavian Spa, I rode the local bus and subway and more.
I also rode the train from Ontario and British Columbia. I really enjoyed watching the changing landscape as I traveled from province to province. While i was on the train, I saw a few great plains and I wondered if people ever witnessed a wild stampede while on board.
As I was traveling alone, I appeared homeless and a mess quite a few times. The rainy weather was not helpful in that regards. I swear at least one person looked at me like I was a hobo or something while I was stranded and waiting for my bus.
That's what I like about traveling alone.
