Cracking Nuts

It is now fall and I have been diligently cleaning up our backyard much like our friendly neighbourhood squirrels.  As part of the clean-up, I have to pick up all fallen things like leaves, branches and nuts.  You see, our neighbours have Walnut trees so their nuts fall into our backyard all the time.

This morning, we tried to crack a Walnut open and it was impossible that's when I realize not only are squirrels armed with strong arms, they are also armed with strong teeth.  How impressive!

With that said though, our human teeth are capable of cracking a peach nut.  During Spartan Race this year, after finishing my peach, I did not want to spit out the peach nut containing the peach seed.  During a climb, my teeth cracked the nut opened.  It was my first time seeing a peach seed.  I threw it into the mountain hoping a peach tree will one day protrude out of the mountain.
