"I see that you want to be a mother" said my junior kindergarten teacher or early childhood educator. We were probably playing a fortune telling game. She was fortune telling for the whole class. I questioned her predictions even as a child.
Anyhow, at some point in my childhood, I have dreamt about being a teacher. Afterall, you receive Christmas Gift from the whole class (elementary school only), you get summer vacations and you get to go to school everyday!
But then, my teachers went on strike and I thought to myself, "maybe it is not that great being a teacher after all". As a child, I loved their strike because no school for me. I even saw them in action during my bicycle rides. They were standing in freezing cold holding up signs and no one saw them (at least that is what I saw anyways).
There was also a favourite "halloween" moment which i missed with one of my "teacher". I am not sure if it happened around halloween time but I called it the "halloween" moment because our school librarian turned into a witch with her voice when the entire class was mean to her (we are only with her once a week or once a month). She was usually very nice and quiet. For some reason, I was absent from school that day so I only heard stories. Years later, I went back to my elementary school and she was now teaching a grade two or grade three class and her hair was a mess. I was wondering if she was coping OK. I never said anything to her because she only taught me once a week or once a month for one year only and she probably doesn't remember me anyways but I hope she still liked her job.
Then there was high school, one of my favourite teacher don't remember me because I didn't go back to visit every year so I skipped out on the most recent alumni reunion. There are only a few teachers and students. I remember their stories but they probably can't remember mine because I am stoic.
Let's just pause here on teachers that have inspired me. Based on my limited observations in the early part of my life, I have concluded that I may not be suitable to be a teacher. For other observations, such as admission requirements, GPA, MCAT, LSAT, EQAO, others.. please read... sorry haven't blog about it yet.
