Leisure Friday! - My Tough Mudder Story!
I previously posted one of my Spartan Race story. I thought I would share my Tough Mudder story too. Afterall, it is Friday.
I was a Tough Mudder MVP before I competed in my first Tough Mudder and received my first Tough Mudder headband! Being the MVP was very boring. You are in the middle of all the action but cannot do nothing.
Instead of talking about my Tough Mudder MVP experience (which was actually very interesting). I will blog about my second Tough Mudder experience instead.
I was suppose to run with a group of people but we were late (even though we left early) so we had a two person team instead. It was raining that day too so a few obstacles were closed. I didn't have to drive this time so I spend my time reading a very very long book instead. I was preparing for an important interview.
My first obstacle race experience as an "adult" was the Spartan Race. It is hard not to compare my experiences as a Spartan Race participant, Tough Mudder MVP and Tough Mudder participant. There was a noticeable difference in the "host" in all three. If you hate lining up and hate cheating then make sure you do all your burpees for the Spartan Race or that you don't fail an obstacle. If you want to attempt an obstacle, easily give up on an obstacle or even better skip every single obstacles, then you are more then welcome to just keep running in Tough Mudder with no consequences.
Anyways, as I was saying, it was raining that day so a lot of the Tough Mudder obstacles were closed. Our two person team traveled slowly and my partner didn't help me and I didn't help my partner either because I don't know how. We just traveled together. I was very encouraging at times because we are very competitive at times. I tried to help other people but it looked like I was causing trouble more than helping so I just did all the obstacles to the best of my ability. Obviously I was easier to help than my partner. I learned that my partner give up easily and don't like to crawl through mud twice. You are at Tough Mudder and you are not going to do the trenches twice? Really? You are not even going to run through the electric wire while holding my hand? OK.. we are both just going to avoid the wire. I do it better than you! You want to hold a log that weight less. Ok I should have just hold my own log instead of choosing a big log for the two of us only realizing that I have to do most of the carrying! And then your group of friend didn't even wait for us at the finish line and their siblings taped and photographed their entire experience for free because they walk through the entire course with them. Oh, and we didn't even meet with your friends to eat together afterward. Great! Good for you and them.
Anyways I digress. I love Tough Mudder. It's great, it really is. I just went on the wrong day with the wrong people and undesirable weather.
There are a lot of other Tough Mudder moments I would love to share but I don't want to spoil the experience for anyone who has never been to the event before.
